Are You a Carer or do you know someone who is a Carer?

What is a Carer?

“An Adult Carer is someone who without payment, provides help and support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not otherwise manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, addiction or disability.”

The Practice recognises how important Carers are in supporting family and friends to stay at home. It is equally important that Carers look after their own health and wellbeing and the practice is keen to support, where possible, for those Carers to do so.

Please advise reception staff, who will update your records to identify you as a Carer.

You can also register as a carer with Dumfries and Galloway Carers Centre.

How can we support Carer’s?
• By providing support to you for your role
• Signposting you to appropriate Carer support agencies such as Dumfries and Galloway Carers centre.
